The Balkan Museum Network has launched a major international initiative exploring interpretation of museum objects, particularly focusing on multiple voices. Communication is at the heart of exhibitions. Museums create messages and meanings and provide information about objects. Visitors of the museums are often passive receivers in an exhibition – they can look, listen and read – very rarely do they actually get to talk.
‘My Museum and Me’ is an exhibition based on dialogue. This is a process of talking and listening with others. It is about seeing the world from a different angle.
In museums good interpretation engages visitors in an active learning process. This training day will introduce and explore this approach and help you participate in the Balkan Museum Network’s first virtual exhibition.
