Workshop parallel session 1

Ivana Jagić Boljat, Putting value-based heritage interpretation into practice

Rooted in Interpret Europe’s methodology, this session will show how values-based interpretation can turn museum exhibits and the stories behind them into meaningful, holistic experiences. It offers paths to deeper meaning and inclusive perspectives, while provoking participation, resonance, and sparking mindful response—ultimately promoting stewardship for all heritage.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore how values-based interpretation can foster more engaging and impactful participation. Through practical examples and shared insights, the session will demonstrate how connecting with people’s values can enrich connection, deepen engagement, and inspire reflection and action.

By demonstrating a few hands-on exercises, the session will offer participants a taste of how this approach is applied across Interpret Europe’s certified programmes for interpretive guides, writers, and planners.
