“Preserving cultural heritage through digitalization tools (VR, AR)“ Marija Dimova and Nikola Vanchoski, KAMAi MEDIA

The session will show the basics of the digitalization process in cultural heritage sites and objects, as well as its usage in the preserving/safeguarding of cultural heritage. 15 minutes powerpoint presentation. After which, the visitors will have the opportunity to have a direct VR experience in the form of the virtual tour through the Heraclea Lyncestis theatre, provided by the facilitators.

Kamai media is a game development studio that has been developing video games, 3d visualisations, simulations and AR/VR projects for the past 12 years. Currently, the team at Kamai Media consists of 17 people with expertise in programming, design, modelling, concept art and animation. One of the main achievements in digitalization of cultural heritage is the complete reconstruction of the ancient Roman theatre at the site of Heraclea Lyncestis, made to be experienced in VR.The user time travels to the past and can explore the theatre the way it was while it was still in use. Additionally, this project features 3 separate AR locations at the ancient site, accessible via a smartphone app. Marija Dimova is the commercial manager, dealing with all incoming and outgoing paperwork, money and communication. She is also the company’s Human Resources manager, and principal liaison with company partners.

Nikola Vanchoski is a programmer, proficient in all programming languages and engines, with valuable experience in a wide range of projects.
