Calling on researchers working in and with museums

We would love to hear from museum colleagues from the Balkan Museum Network and other organizations and institutions who are currently conducting research. Let us know about your scientific area within the heritage and museum sectors, including heritage institutes, agencies and other GLAM institutions.

BMN is a partner in in two Horizon Europe projects (SHIFT and AURORA), so we are particularly interested in identifying and partnering with researchers in the following areas:

  • The  usage of digital technologies for increasing access and inclusion in museums
  • Usage of new technologies (AI, AR/VR, NLP) for increased access and inclusion  in museums
  • Combating illicit trafficking of museum artifacts with different technological solutions
  • Monetisation of new digital products and services with the potential to increase museum’s revenues

Showcase your work, learn from peers, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within museum and heritage communities. We believe that research is the driving force behind progress, innovation, and the solution to some of society’s most pressing challenges.

The information you provide will be used as an input for the BMN in considering your expertise when a possibility arises. In the future, we might be able to offer you an opportunity to conduct your research on a real life example working in partnership with a museum (depending on the topic), to write an article or to present your work at the conference. We welcome research submissions from all fields and disciplines, thus your work could be in natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, technology, or any other area of academic or vocational research.

If the above sounds compelling, fill in this online form and tell us about your current research so we can connect!

The submission deadline is 20 December 2023.

We look forward to receiving your research contributions and having you as part of our research community. By opening the doors to researchers at all stages of their academic and professional journey, we aim to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the creation of a vibrant research community.
