Cultural operators pair up to design innovative and experimental cooperation

Twenty-three participants from the six Western Balkan countries met in Belgrade (12-16 November 2019) in the Center for Cultural Decontamination for the Partner Forum for the first Tandem Western Balkans programme. Representatives of associations and public institutions from different artistic, cultural and heritage disciplines in their focus, got acquainted with each other and the work of their organisations. Going though the programme and using tools such as speed dating, slow dating, short organisational presentations and support of their colleagues who joined on the third day, nine tandems and one ´tridem´ have been formed! The pairs are now designing the details of their cross-border cultural operators that would result in innovative and experimental actions that question and respond to different political, social and cultural issues present in the Western Balkan region.

Eight Tandems have received the support for their one year collaboration.

Tandem Western Balkans is an initiative developed by the European Cultural Foundation (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and MitOst (Berlin, Germany), supported by Open Society Foundations. It is implemented together with the Balkan Museum Network (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Balkans let´s get up and Centar za kulturnu dekontaminaciju (Belgrade, Serbia), Lumbardhi Foundation (Prizren, Kosovo) and Jadro (Skopje, North Macedonia) as conceptual and organisational partners.

Thanks to all partners, the participants of the Partner Forum and the photographer Marija Piroshki (Piroshki Photography) for capturing memorable moments!
