The iNCLUSION project is organizing a series of Info Days aimed at promoting inclusive and accessible approaches to culture. One of these Info Days, organized by the Balkan Museum Network, will take place on 12 February 2026 at the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
We warmly invite cultural professionals, representatives of public institutions, educators, disability advocates, and the wider public to join us for a unique event that opens up a new, inclusive way of experiencing art:
An Inclusive Digital Journey Through the Masterpieces of Fine Art of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
About the Event
The event will present a selection of inclusive digital stories about artworks, developed within the Erasmus+ project iNCLUSION, with the goal of improving access to culture for persons with disabilities. Through innovative digital and multimedia formats, the project explores how museum collections can be made accessible to diverse audiences while respecting the principles of inclusion and universal design.
During the program, participants will be introduced to:
- Key findings of research on the cultural needs of persons with disabilities,
- An overview of the current state of accessibility in cultural institutions,
- An analysis of existing knowledge and skills of cultural professionals related to inclusion and universal design.
Research and Regional Perspective
As part of the iNCLUSION project, an in-depth analysis was conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Türkiye. This research examined structural, physical, digital, and communicational accessibility in cultural institutions, as well as the capacity of cultural workers to implement inclusive practices.
The research has been published, and its main conclusions will be presented during the Info Day. Printed copies of the publication will also be shared with participants, contributing to knowledge exchange and long-term impact beyond the event itself.
Inclusive Digital Presentation of Artworks
Applying the principles of universal design, the project team developed inclusive presentations of eight selected artworks, ensuring they can be experienced by audiences with different abilities and access needs. These artworks are presented through a variety of multimedia and accessible formats, including:
- Animations,
- Sign language interpretation,
- Audio description,
- Adapted and easy-to-read texts,
- Other accessible digital content.
This approach demonstrates how digital tools can enrich museum interpretation while making art more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful for everyone.
Culture Accessible to All
The iNCLUSION Info Day at the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not only a presentation of project results, but also an invitation to reflect collectively on the future of museums and cultural institutions as spaces open and accessible to all members of society.
We look forward to welcoming you and engaging in a shared dialogue on inclusive cultural practices and the transformative potential of accessibility in the arts. The event is in Bosnian language and for invited participants. If you would like to register to attend fill in this link.
